The Revach family

Mordechai Revach and Rina (Regina) Leon lived door‑to‑door on the second floor of a building at 16 HaAyin Het Street in Musrara. Mordechai immigrated alone in 1949 from the city of Debdou in Morocco, was drafted into the War of Independence, and when it ended, he received a room in the building. That same year, Rina immigrated with her family from Izmir, Turkey, and after staying in transit camps in Be’er Ya’akov and Talpiot, they received a two‑room apartment across from Mordechai’s room. Mordechai and Rina married in 1950, Moshe was born in 1951, and five years later Miriam was born.

Moshe remembers every streetlight, street corner, and balcony in Musrara from his childhood. In an interview, he talks about life in a multi-family home crowded but lived with dignity about a father who struggled to find work, traveled as far as Dimona to earn a living, and passed away at a young age. Moshe reflects on the journey from his childhood in Musrara to his career as a naval officer, and later as an educator who always sought to find himself in the students, reliving his own childhood through them.
