David and Simcha Illouz were married in Algeria, in the town of Colomb Béchar. The couple had nine children: Yehia, Yaakov, Shlomo, Meir, Natan, Farkhia, Aziza, Mazal, and Rukhama. The family immigrated to Israel in 1949. They arrived at the transit camp (ma’abara) in Pardes Hanna, and after two weeks moved to live on Mishmarot Street in the Musrara neighborhood.
Their son Yaakov still lives today in the Musrara neighborhood, on Ido HaNavi Street, and serves as the cantor of the synagogue on Ah”h Street.
